Allergy & Air on October 21, 2014 2 Comments The air we breathe is contaminated with a number of irritants and pollutants. Unfortunately, some of us may never notice these airborne irritants, but to the millions of those suffering from the harmful exposure of smoke and/or odors, clean air can mean a healthier and better quality of life. Are you exposed to secondhand tobacco smoke? Secondhand tobacco smoke can cause or escalate breathing complications, such as asthma, as well as escalate your risk for lung cancer and heart disease. There are thousands of gasses, chemicals, and particles found in secondhand smoke, many of them cancer-causing. The only way to diminish the effects of these harmful chemicals, other than avoiding them altogether, is to limit your inhalation of them. An Air Purifier Can Help Air purifiers designed to combat secondhand smoke are equipped with both a HEPA filter and an Activated Carbon filter. Together, these filtration systems are designed to capture and destroy toxic particulates as well as absorb noxious chemicals and gasses, significantly minimizing the harmful airborne pollutants in your air. Are you tired of pet and other household odors? If you are one of the millions of pet owners in America, you know that sharing your space with an animal can cause complications. Household pets give off dander, which can trigger asthma and allergies, as well as a bevy of unpleasant odors. Avid cleaning may seem to minimize the effects but can also be tiresome and not entirely effective. Cooking, cleaning, recycling, and other household activities can cause unpleasant odors as well. Air fresheners may seem like a quick fix, but in actuality, they only temporarily mask the issue rather than correct it. An Air Purifier Can Help Air purifiers designed for smoke and odors are equipped with an Activated Carbon Filtration system. These thick and porous systems are designed for the absorption and removal of odors from the air, leaving you with clean, odorless air. The Clean Air Difference A study conducted by The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine reported that children living with smoking parents suffered fewer days of severe asthma symptoms when a high-efficiency air purifier was being used in their home. When you and your loved ones’ health is at stake, purified air is a priceless gift you can give. Allow yourself and those in your life to live a happier and healthier life simply by offering clean, breathable air in your home.
Ethel says August 26, 2015 at 5:42 pm I suffer from asthma and allergies but I have never owned an air purifier… It seems that they can make a huge difference in the air quality in your home. The article mentions that air purifeirs can remove odors too…. as a pet owner, that would be very beneficial as no matter how often i give her a bath, she still has a stink that can follow her around. John says March 1, 2017 at 11:17 am I like how the article mentions that air purifiers can help deodorize the air by filtering it, rather than masking it like air freshener. Beyond odor elimination, would an air purifier prove beneficial for reducing allergens in the air? I’d be curious to know since I have hay fever and I live near a landfill. Reply
